The southern shaft targeted Orion’s Belt (Al Nitak) at the construction epoch

At ~2500 BCE the southern shaft of the King’s Chamber pointed at Al Nitak as it crossed the meridian. The declination match is tight using Vondřák long-term precession.

Bauval’s correlation aligns the three main pyramids to the Belt asterism; the southern-shaft declination matches Al Nitak’s meridian crossing ~2500 BCE within the survey error.
